It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
